How to capture ProRAW files in ProCamera?

ProRAW captures more information than a normal photo: it combines Apple's computational photography (good colors, contrast, and noise reduction straight out of the camera) with the editing flexibility of a RAW file. The result looks good right away but still holds a lot of data for editing. Here is what you need to shoot ProRAW in ProCamera.

Requirements

• ProRAW is an Apple Pro-model feature. You need an iPhone 12 Pro or any newer iPhone Pro model (non-Pro iPhones cannot capture ProRAW).
• Keep your device on a current version of iOS.

Lenses and modes

• ProRAW works with all lenses, including the ultra-wide and the front-facing selfie camera. On older devices, standard RAW does not.
• ProRAW also works in ProCamera's automatic A mode, so it can merge image information from several lenses and sensors (multi-camera fusion). Standard RAW contains unprocessed sensor data from a single lens, so it is only available in M mode or SI mode.

How to capture in ProRAW:

1. First, choose whether ProRAW or standard RAW is offered in the Control Panel: open ProCamera Settings and select your preferred RAW format (Settings > File Format > Raw format).

   

2. In Photo or LowLight camera mode, open the Control Panel and activate RAW capture.

   

Note: ProCamera Settings > Capture Screen lets you add a RAW toggle to the Capture Screen. It switches between your selected RAW format and your preferred non-RAW format without opening the Control Panel — when it shows blue, RAW (or ProRAW) is active.
