ProCamera enables you to take photos in various aspect ratios. By default, you take photos in 4:3 format, but you can choose from eight other aspect ratio options for photo captures, including 1:1, 2:1, 2.4:1, 3:1, 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, or even Golden Ratio. All aspect ratios other than 4:3 are achieved by cropping the 4:3 image.
Changing Aspect Ratio in ProCamera:
- Open the Control panel.
- Tap the Aspect Ratio button.
- Select an Aspect ratio in the sub-menu.
When taking a photo with an aspect ratio other than 4:3, the original 4:3 image is saved along the cropped image by default. This allows you to always go back to the full 4:3 image.
4:3 is the native capture format of the iPhone camera. There is special option in Settings (Settings > Edited Version) where you can configure the saving options (e.g. only save the cropped image without the additional 4:3 original) for images taken with an aspect ratio other than 4:3. To learn more about this, read this article.
To learn how to export files with multiple versions available, such as when the original 4:3 image is saved alongside the cropped image, check this article (see the "Exporting images with multiple available versions" subtitle).
